\u00a0Theatre Under The Stars announces the cast of the upcoming engagement of the Tony Award\u00ae-winning revival of Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em>. The North American Tour appears at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts from Feb. 18 to March 1.<\/p>\n

Cast members from the 2017 Broadway revival of Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em> lead the touring company, including \u201cAmerican Idol\u201d Alum Tamyra Gray<\/strong> as Papa Ge, Cassondra James<\/strong> as Erzulie, Tony Nominee Phillip Boykin<\/strong> as Tonton Julian, Courtnee Carter<\/strong> as Ti Moune and Tyler Hardwick<\/strong> as Daniel Beauxhomme. Completing the gods of the island are Jahmaul Bakare<\/strong> as Agwe and Kyle Ramar Freeman<\/strong> as Asaka.<\/p>\n

Casting also includes Briana Brooks<\/strong> as Andrea, George L. Brown<\/strong> as Armand and Danielle Lee Greaves<\/strong> as Mama Euralie, along with Mckynleigh Alden Abraham<\/strong>, Michael Ivan Carrier<\/strong>, Jay Donnell<\/strong>, Phyre Hawkins<\/strong>, Savannah Jackson-Page<\/strong>, Alex Joseph Grayson<\/strong>, Tatiana Lofton<\/strong> and Robert Zelaya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Winner of the 2018 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em> is the sweeping, universal tale of Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl in search of her place in the world, and ready to risk it all for love. Guided by the mighty island gods, Ti Moune sets out on a remarkable journey to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.<\/p>\n

The groundbreaking vision of two-time Tony Award nominated director Michael Arden<\/strong> (Spring Awakening<\/em> revival) and acclaimed choreographer Camille A. Brown<\/strong> (NBC\u2019s Jesus Christ Superstar Live<\/em>) conjures up \u201ca place where magic is possible and beauty is apparent for all to see!\u201d (The Huffington Post<\/em>)<\/span>. With a score that bursts with life from Lynn Ahrens<\/strong> and Stephen Flaherty<\/strong>, the Tony Award-winning songwriters of Anastasia<\/em> and Ragtime<\/em>, Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em> is a timeless testament to theater\u2019s unlimited possibilities.<\/p>\n

This production features new orchestrations by original orchestrator Michael Starobin<\/strong>, who is joined by AnnMarie Milazzo<\/strong>, Scenic Design by Dane Laffrey<\/strong>, Costume Design by Clint Ramos<\/strong>, Sound Design by Peter Hylenski<\/strong> and Lighting Design by Jules Fisher<\/strong> and Peggy Eisenhauer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em> premiered at Playwrights Horizons in May of 1990. The original Broadway production opened in October of that year and ran for 469 performances garnering eight Tony nominations including Best Featured Actress (LaChanze), Best Original Score, Best Book of a Musical and Best Musical. The 1994 West End Production won the Olivier Award for Best New Musical. The critically acclaimed 2017 Broadway Revival, which opened in December of that year, won the 2018 Tony Award\u00ae for Best Musical Revival before closing January 6, 2019.<\/p>\n

The Once On This Island<\/span><\/strong><\/em> national tour is also produced by Carl Daikeler, Roy Putrino, Broadway Strategic Return Fun, Sandi Moran, Caiola Productions, H.
