The annual awards ceremony will take place on <strong>Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The rambunctious celebration features performing from some of Houston\u2019s most talented teens.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets will go on sale to the public on <strong>April 15 at 9 a.m.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After evaluating the 51 participating Houston-area high school productions during the 2018-2019 school year, a team of 40 Houston-based theatre professionals nominated students in 15 award A performer, director and choreographer with more than 50 years of stage experience, Tune received nine Tony Awards\u00ae for his work in productions including: <em><strong>Seesaw<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Nine<\/strong><\/em>, <em><strong>Grand Hotel<\/strong><\/em> and<em><strong> The Will Rogers Follies<\/strong><\/em>. He was also awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2003 by President George W. Bush.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Jimmy Awards\u00ae<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Best Leading Actor and Actress will go on to compete at the national level for the Jimmy Award at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City. Established in 2009, the Jimmy Awards are named after Broadway theatre owner and producer, James M. Nederlander. This year, the program will bring the country\u2019s best high school performers together to compete on Broadway on June 24. While in New York, Jimmy\u2122 Award participants will have the opportunity to participate in rehearsals and master classes, receive one-on-one coaching from theater professionals, be seen by casting agents, meet and converse with Broadway actors and compete for scholarships and other prizes. The annual awards ceremony will take place on <strong>Tuesday, April 30 at 7:30 p.m.<\/strong> at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. The rambunctious celebration features performing from some of Houston\u2019s most talented teens.<\/p><p>Tickets will go on sale to the public on <strong>April 15 at 9 a.m.<\/strong>.<\/p><p>After evaluating the 51 participating Houston-area high school productions during the 2018-2019 school year, a team of 40 Houston-based theatre professionals nominated students in 15 award A performer, director and choreographer with more than 50 years of stage experience, Tune received nine Tony Awards\u00ae for his work in productions including: Seesaw, Nine, Grand Hotel and The Will Rogers Follies. He was also awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2003 by President George W. Bush.<\/p><p><strong>Jimmy\u2122 Awards<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>The Best Leading Actor and Actress will go on to compete at the national level for the Jimmy\u2122 Award at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.<\/strong> Established in 2009, the Jimmy\u2122 Awards are named after Broadway theatre owner and producer, James M. Nederlander. This year, the program will bring the country\u2019s best high school performers together to compete on Broadway on June 24. While in New York, Jimmy\u2122 Award participants will have the opportunity to participate in rehearsals and master classes, receive one-on-one coaching from theater professionals, be seen by casting agents, meet and converse with Broadway actors and compete for scholarships and other prizes.
