Tony Award-winner Priscilla Lopez<\/strong> will lead the cast in the role of \u201cAunt Eller\u201d in the Theatre Under The Stars<\/strong>\u00a0production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma!<\/strong><\/em>, the first show in the musical theatre company\u2019s 50th Anniversary Season.<\/p>\n

Lopez is perhaps best known for originating the role of Diana in the original production of A Chorus Line<\/em><\/strong>, which led to a Tony nomination. She won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for A Day in Hollywood\/A Night in the Ukraine<\/em><\/strong>. She also originated the role of Camila in the 2008 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, In the Heights<\/em><\/strong>. Other Broadway credits include Pippin<\/em><\/strong>, Nine<\/em><\/strong> and Company<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Joining Lopez in the production will be Sam Simahk<\/strong> as \u201cCurly,\u201d Olivia Hernandez<\/strong> as \u201cLaurey,\u201d Madeline Hamlet<\/strong> as \u201cAdo Annie,\u201d Logan Keslar<\/strong> as \u201cIke Skidmore\u201d, Hassan Nazari-Robati<\/strong> as \u201cAli Hakim,\u201d Christopher Campbell<\/strong> as \u201cWill Parker,\u201d Eric Ulloa<\/strong> as \u201cJud Fry,\u201d David Sitler<\/strong> as \u201cAndrew Carnes,\u201d and Dewey Caddell<\/strong> as \u201cCord Elam.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sitler is returning to TUTS having appeared in the 2016 production of Oliver!<\/em>,<\/strong> and was most recently in a production Gypsy<\/em><\/strong> at Broadway Music Circus. Caddell has appeared in productions of On A Clear Day<\/em><\/strong>, Finian\u2019s Rainbow<\/em><\/strong>, and Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Joining the cast from Houston Ballet<\/strong> is Ian Casady<\/strong> and Charles Yoshiyama<\/strong> who will be alternating the role of \u201cDream Curly,\u201d Jessica Collado<\/strong> and Melody Mennite<\/strong> who will be alternating the role of \u201cDream Laurey,\u201d Christopher Coomer<\/strong> and Brian Waldrep<\/strong>, who will be alternating the role of \u201cDream Jud.\u201d<\/p>\n

As previously announced, TUTS\u2019 production of Oklahoma!<\/strong><\/em> will be directed by Dallas Theater Center\u2019s Artistic Director, Kevin Moriarty<\/strong>. The production, which is an artistic collaboration with Houston Ballet, will be choreographed by Stanton Welch AM<\/strong>, Artistic Director of Houston Ballet. Broadway conductor Kimberly Grimsby<\/strong> will be Musical Director of the show. Joining them on the production are Andrew Harper<\/strong> as Sound Designer, Jason Lyons<\/strong> as Lighting Designer, and Karen Perry<\/strong> as Costume Design. Casting for Oklahoma!<\/em><\/strong> was provided by Paul Hardt<\/strong> of Stewart\/Whitley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The first collaboration by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Oklahoma!<\/em><\/strong> is often considered the single most important work in the musical theatre canon. The original production was a smash hit on Broadway running for an unprecedented 2,212 performances. It\u2019s had countless revivals, national tours, an Academy Award-winning film adaptation, and won a special Pulitzer Prize for Rodgers and Hammerstein in 1944.<\/p>\n

Based on Lynn Riggs\u2019 play, Green Grow the Lilacs<\/em>, with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma!<\/strong><\/em> centers on life in the early 1900s in the rural farmland of Oklahoma, and the love story between Curly and Laurey.<\/p>\n
