Theatre Under The Stars\u2019 introduces the cast of its final Mainstage show of the 49th Season, Guys & Dolls<\/em><\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Carlos Lopez<\/strong> will lead the cast as \u201cNathan Detroit\u201d with Madison Claire Parks<\/strong> as \u201cSarah Brown\u201d, Michelle Aravena<\/strong> as \u201cAdelaide\u201d, and Omar Lopez-Cepero<\/strong> as \u201cSky Masterson\u201d. Lopez was most recently seen as Mr. Krabs in the SpongeBob Musical<\/em> in Chicago. Parks won critical acclaim for her turn in the role of Luisa in the Off-Broadway production of The Fantasticks<\/em>. Aravena appeared in the original companies of A Bronx Tale<\/em>, Rocky<\/em>, and Jersey Boys<\/em> on Broadway. Lopez-Cepero appeared in Broadway productions of On Your Feet!<\/em> and American Idiot<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Joining them will be Sofia Cheyenne<\/strong> as \u201cBig Jule\u201d, Paul Hope<\/strong> as \u201cArvide Abernathy\u201d, John Johnston<\/strong> as \u201cLt. Brannigan\u201d, Arthur Lazalde<\/strong> as \u201cHarry the Horse\u201d, Cedric Leiba, Jr.<\/strong> as \u201cBenny Southstreet\u201d, Lynda Keith McKnight<\/strong> as \u201cCartwright\u201d, Roland Rusinek<\/strong> as \u201cNicely-Nicely\u201d, and Michael Anthony Sylvester<\/strong>. Cheyenne has appeared in numerous regional theatre productions including Other World<\/em> <\/strong>and The Briefly Dead<\/em><\/strong>. Hope is well-known to Houston audiences, and has appeared in a number of productions at TUTS including Mame<\/em><\/strong>, Sugar<\/em><\/strong>, and La Cage aux Folles<\/strong><\/em>. Johnston is another familiar face to Houston audiences. He was most recently seen in The Adventure of the Speckled Band<\/em> <\/strong>at the Classical Theatre Company, and he was last on the TUTS stage in The Sound of Music<\/strong><\/em>. Lazalde has appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions including The Widowing of Mrs. Holroyd<\/em> <\/strong>and As You Like It<\/em><\/strong>. Leiba\u2019s theatrical credits include National Tours of Miss Saigon<\/em><\/strong>, and RENT<\/em><\/strong>. McKnight made her theatrical debut in John Corgliano\u2019s The Ghosts of Versailles<\/em><\/strong> in 1991 with the Metropolitan Opera, and she has since performed with the Toledo Opera, the Shreveport Opera, Opera Orchestra of New York, the Wolf Trap Opera, and Sugarland Opera. Rusinek is known for his work in the Broadway company of The Phantom of the Opera<\/em><\/strong>, many productions of Sweeney Todd<\/em><\/strong>, and the first National Tour of The Addams Family<\/em><\/strong>. Sylvester is returning to TUTS having appeared in In The Heights<\/em><\/strong>, Elf<\/em><\/strong>,<\/em>\u00a0and The Rocky Horror Show<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the cast in the ensemble is: Ryan Anthony<\/strong>, Mariela Arteaga<\/strong>, Austin Alejandro Arizpe<\/strong>, Gabriel Bernal<\/strong>, Cristina Maria Castro<\/strong>, Courtney Chilton<\/strong>, Juan Sebastian Cruz<\/strong>, Gabriella Enriquez<\/strong>, Jorge Guerra<\/strong>, Jayson Kolbicz<\/strong>, Blair Medina<\/strong>, Michelle Mayo<\/strong>, Jessica Seavor<\/strong>, and Christopher Tipps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Directed by Nick DeGruccio<\/strong>, this Latin-inspired, reimagined production of Guys & Dolls<\/em><\/strong> will run June 12 through 24 at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. Joining DeGruccio on the production is Julio Agustin<\/strong> as Choreographer, Stephen W. Jones<\/strong> as Music Director, Steven Young<\/strong> as Lighting Designer, Andrew Harper<\/strong> as Sound Designer, Ryan McGettigan<\/strong> as Scenic Coordinator, Colleen Grady<\/strong> as Costume Designer, and Gerard Kelly<\/strong> as Hair and Makeup Designer. Casting for Guys & Dolls<\/em><\/strong> was provided by Stewart\/Whitley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Guys & Dolls<\/em><\/strong> is the classic musical with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser<\/strong> and book by Jo Swerling<\/strong> and Abe Burrows<\/strong>, based on some of the short stories by Damon Runyon premiered on Broadway in 1950, and the following year won five Tony\u00ae Awards in every category in which it was nominated, including Best Musical.<\/p>\n
