Theatre Under The Stars<\/strong> and Lythgoe Family Panto<\/strong> are excited to announce that John O\u2019Hurley<\/strong> of Seinfeld<\/em> and Broadway\u2019s Chicago<\/strong><\/em>, and Lauren Taylor<\/strong> of Disney\u2019s Best Friends Whenever<\/em>, will be joining the cast of Sleeping Beauty and Her Winter Knight<\/strong> <\/em>starring as \u201cThe King of Houston\u201d and \u201cPrincess Aurora\u201d!<\/p>\n

John O\u2019Hurley is well known for his role on the TV show Seinfeld<\/em>, for his run as the runner up on the the first season of Dancing with the Stars<\/em>, and NBC\u2019s Host for the The National Dog Show<\/em>. He also starred in Chicago<\/strong><\/em> on Broadway and Monty Python\u2019s SPAMALOT<\/strong><\/em>, both on tour and in Las Vegas. Lauren Taylor recently starred as \u201cShelby\u201d on the Disney Channel\u2019s Best Friends Whenever<\/em>. She also appeared on the Netflix series Richie Rich<\/em> and is an accomplished singer who has opened for artists including Wilson Phillips, Michael Bolton, Vanessa Williams, and Debbie Gibson.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Hurley and Taylor join previously announced cast members Garrett Clayton<\/strong> of Disney\u2019s Teen Beach Movie<\/em>, and Vonzell Solomon<\/strong> who was the second runner up on the fourth season of American Idol<\/em> who are starring as \u201cThe Prince of River Oaks\u201d and \u201cThe Good Fairy\u201d respectively. Joining the cast as \u201cSilly Billy\u201d is Ben Giroux<\/strong>, who has appeared on many TV shows including NCIS<\/em>, Psych<\/em>, Bones<\/em>, House<\/em>, and Anger Management<\/em>. Along with Giroux, Jeff Sumner<\/strong>, whose credits include Happy Days<\/strong><\/em>, Little Shop of Horrors<\/strong><\/em>, and Godspell<\/strong><\/em>, joins the cast as \u201cNanny Tickle\u201d.<\/p>\n

Additionally, 24 students from TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre<\/strong> (HSMT) and The River Performing and Visual Arts Center<\/strong> (The River) have been cast as the children\u2019s chorus, along with a number of Houston-based dancers.<\/p>\n

The students are divided into two groups who will perform on alternate days. The HSMT and The River students who will be performing in the production are: Julien Ames-Zuniga<\/strong>, Jade Brion<\/strong>, Andrew Burke<\/strong>, Abriel Coleman<\/strong>, Morgan Dallison<\/strong>, Brennan Emeka<\/strong>, Karli Fisher<\/strong>, Chase Fontenot<\/strong>, Sydney Gamarra<\/strong>, Bryce Gilleylen<\/strong>, Elle Graper<\/strong>, Sean Graul<\/strong>, Laci Hepler<\/strong>, Nevaeh Joseph<\/strong>, Michael Karash<\/strong>, Anneliese Kelly<\/strong>, Kelly Lomonte<\/strong>, Isabella Morrison<\/strong>, Hannah Pettit<\/strong>, Courtney Schmitt<\/strong>, Saylor Swick<\/strong>, Hope Vanderburg<\/strong>, Abbey Yadan<\/strong>, and Mia Zatarain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As previously announced, the creative team for the production includes Director, Linda Goodrich (TUTS 2016 production of Mary Poppins<\/strong><\/em>), Choreographer, Spencer Liff (Emmy nominee for So You Think You Can Dance<\/em>), Music Supervisor, Michael Orland (American Idol<\/em>), and Music Director, Jim Vukovich. Sleeping Beauty and Her Winter Knight<\/strong> <\/em> is written by Kris Lythgoe, with unique Houston customization to the script. His producing partner and co-founder of LFP, Becky Lythgoe, also serves as Casting Director and loves to bring stars from stage and screen together with local artists in their productions.<\/p>\n

Sleeping Beauty and Her Winter Knight<\/strong> <\/em> tells the story of Princess Aurora who is cursed by an evil fairy, Carabosse, and of the handsome Prince who is on a quest to save his Sleeping Beauty before it\u2019s too late. An updated version of the classic Grimm fairytale, in the style of a traditional British family Panto, SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HER WINTER KNIGHT is a singing and soaring winter adventure that features family-friendly magic, with a comedic twist, dancing (with So You Think You Can Dance alumni), a live pony, interaction with the audience and contemporary music from Jessie J’s “Domino” to John Legend’s “All Of Me”, Pharrell Williams “Happy” to Survivor’s “Eye of The Tiger” and more.<\/span><\/p>\n

SLEEPING BEAUTY AND HER WINTER KNIGHT runs December 12 – 24, 2017<\/strong> in Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
