Theatrical talent from across the country will converge on Houston to bring the 5th Avenue Theatre Company and the Shakespeare Theatre Company co-production of THE SECRET GARDEN presented by Theatre Under The Stars.<\/p>\n

Starring in the roles of Mary Lennox and Archibald Craven are Bea Corley<\/strong> and Jeremy Kushnier<\/strong>. Corley is a talented young actress who made her 5th Avenue Theatre debut in the role. Corley has appeared in regional theatre productions including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang<\/strong><\/em>, Shrek<\/strong><\/em> and Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/strong><\/em>. Kushnier has appeared on Broadway in Cirque du Soleil\u2019s Paramour<\/strong><\/em>, Footloose<\/strong><\/em>, RENT<\/strong><\/em>, and the 2012 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar<\/strong><\/em>. Josh Young<\/strong>, whose credits include Evita<\/strong><\/em>, Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/strong><\/em>, and his 2012 Tony Award\u24c7-<\/sup>nominated performance in Jesus Christ Superstar<\/strong><\/em>, will appear as Dr. Neville Craven. Lizzie Klemperer<\/strong> will play Lily. Sean G. Griffin<\/strong> will play the part of Ben Weatherstaff. Griffin\u2019s vast body of work includes six Broadway productions and numerous regional productions including Carousel<\/strong><\/em>, Elf<\/strong><\/em>, West Side Story<\/strong><\/em>, and My Fair Lady<\/strong><\/em> all at 5th Avenue.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Maltby<\/strong> will play Martha. Maltby most recently appeared in the 1st National Tour of The Sound of Music<\/strong><\/em> directed by Jack O\u2019Brien. Her other credits include regional productions of Hairspray<\/strong><\/em> and Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/strong><\/em>. Anisha Nagarajan<\/strong> will play Ayah. Nagarajan was in the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber and AR Rahman\u2019s Bombay Dreams<\/strong><\/em>; and was also part of the Actor\u2019s Fund benefit concert of Hair<\/strong><\/em>, and the Lincoln Center\u2019s concert production of The Secret Garden<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Secret Garden<\/strong><\/em>, which runs October 10th to 22nd in Sarofim Hall at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts kicking off TUTS 2017-18 Season, will be directed and choreographed by David Armstrong<\/strong>. Armstrong has served the Executive Producer and Artistic Director of the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle since 2000. He has directed many productions at 5th Avenue including Sweeney Todd<\/strong><\/em>, Hello, Dolly!<\/strong><\/em>, Company, and Anything Goes. Rick Fox<\/strong> is serving as the Music Director\/Supervision\/New Arrangements for the production. He has worked as a Musical Director, Conductor, and Supervisor on more than 100 productions including Candide, Sweeney Todd, and Hello, Dolly!<\/strong><\/em>. Craig Baldwin<\/strong> is the Assistant Director and Trina Mills<\/strong> is the Assistant Choreographer on the production. Baldwin has worked on productions at regional theaters across the country including Lincoln Center Theatre, Roundabout Theatre Company, and 5th Avenue; and is currently the Artistic Associate at Shakespeare Theatre Company in DC. Mills has worked on numerous productions including The Sounds of Music<\/strong><\/em>, Assassins<\/strong><\/em>, and Sweeney Todd<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The production will feature scenic design by Anna Louizos<\/strong>, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward<\/strong>, lighting design by Mike Baldassari<\/strong>, and sound design by Justin Stasiw<\/strong>. Louizos has designed sets for many Broadway productions including In the Heights<\/strong><\/em>, High Fidelty<\/strong><\/em>, and The Mystery of Edwin Drood<\/strong><\/em> all of which garnered her Tony nominations. Hould-Ward is a renowned costume designer having created costumes for Broadway productions including The Color Purple<\/strong><\/em>, Beauty and the Beast<\/strong><\/em>, for which she received a Tony Award, and Into the Woods<\/strong><\/em>. She recently revisited her work on the latter when she reimagined several pieces for TUTS\u2019 2016 production of Into the Woods<\/strong><\/em>. Baldassari is a Tony-and-Emmy-nominated lighting designer whose work has been seen on film, television, and on Broadway. His body of work includes the movie musicals, Nine<\/strong><\/em> and Rock of Ages<\/strong><\/em>, and his work on Broadway includes the revival of Caberet<\/strong><\/em>. Stasiw has served as the Associate Sound Designer on numerous Broadway productions including Anastasia<\/strong><\/em>, Motown the Musical<\/strong><\/em>, and Something Rotten!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
