\u00a0Theatre Under The Stars is excited to introduce Phoenix Best, Ta’Nika Gibson, Zonya Love, and the cast of the upcoming production of Dreamgirls<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the cast of Dreamgirls<\/strong><\/em>, TUTS Artistic Advisor and Director of the production, Sheldon Epps says, “A careful and exhaustive series of auditions in three cities has led us to this superlative company of triple threats. The cast is deeply gifted in every way. I know that they will generously give their artistry to this very special show in vivacious performances that will give this material a vibrant and exciting new life.”<\/p>\n

In the role of Deena Jones is Phoenix Best; Ta\u2019Nika Gibson will play the role of Lorrell Robinson; and, Zonya Love will be joining the cast in the role of Effie White.<\/p>\n

Best\u2019s recent credits include The Color Purple<\/strong><\/em> on Broadway, as well as, regional productions of Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/strong> <\/em>(PA Shakespeare Festival), Cinderella<\/strong><\/em> (PA Shakespeare Festival), and Beauty and the Beast<\/strong><\/em> (PA Shakespeare Festival).<\/p>\n

Gibson has a vast number of regional theatre credits including productions of The Wiz<\/strong><\/em> (Weathervane Rep. Theatre), AIDA<\/strong><\/em> (Strand Theater), and Anything Goes<\/strong><\/em> (MacDuffie Theater).<\/p>\n

\"Tanika<\/p>\n

Love has appeared on Broadway as Celie in 2008 production of The Color Purple,<\/strong><\/em> Off-Broadway and in the National Tour of Avenue Q<\/strong><\/em>, in the television show, “Blue Bloods,” and in numerous regional theatre productions including The Wiz<\/strong> <\/em>(Maltz Jupiter Theatre), The Color Purple<\/strong><\/em> (Milwaukee Rep) and Kiss Me, Kate<\/strong><\/em> (Shakespeare Theatre Company).<\/p>\n

\"Zonya<\/p>\n

Kerrisa Arrington, who TUTS audiences may recognize from the 2016 production of The Sweet Potato Queens<\/strong><\/em>, will be playing the role of Michelle Morris. Her other theatrical credits include the National Tour of Sister Act<\/strong><\/em> and regional productions of RENT<\/strong><\/em> (The Woodlawn Theatre) and High School Musical<\/strong> <\/em>(The Woodlawn Theatre).<\/p>\n

E. Clayton Cornelious joins the cast as Jimmy \u201cThunder\u201d Early. His Broadway credits include the original productions of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical<\/strong><\/em>, Wonderland<\/strong><\/em>, and The Scottboro Boys<\/strong><\/em>, as well as, revivals of A Chorus Line<\/strong><\/em> and The Music Man<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Thomas Hobson will be playing the role of Curtis Taylor, Jr. He has an extensive number of film, television and theatre credits including \u201cNCIS: Los Angeles,\u201d \u201cCriminal Minds,\u201d Stage work include Smokey Joe’s Cafe<\/strong><\/em> (Pasadena Playhouse), Ain’t No Mountain High Enough<\/strong><\/em> (Center Theatre Group), and Dreamgirls<\/strong><\/em> (San Diego Music Theatre).<\/p>\n
